Mini Camps Ages 9-12 years

  • Each mini camps is limited to 12 participants.  
  • Registration deadlines are one week prior to the first day of class and will apply unless we reach 12 participants first.
  • Mini Camps schedules are:
    • 6:00 AM - 8:30 AM Before Care
    • 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Mini Camp
    • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM After Care
  • Mini camps are Monday - Thursday.  You can add the Friday field trip for an additional $15.
  • The prices include all materials and Before and After Care.

Art Camp

Each day art campers will attend 5 classes, each roughly 45 - 60 minutes long. Classes will include culinary arts, photography, fiber arts, performing arts, and painting. A program will be held on the last day of Art Camp at 5:00 PM for families. Campers will be able to showcase what they’ve created over the last week.

Athletic Development Camp

Calling all athletes! Develop your athletic talent and a basic knowledge about how your body works in relation to sports. This camp will work on your explosiveness, speed, power, and strength to make you an all around better athlete.

Age:     9 - 10 years old
Date:    Monday - Friday, July 31 - August 4

Age:     11 - 12 years old
Date:    Monday - Friday, August 7 - 11

Dance

Students will develop their dance technique and expand their imagination as they move their body and explore the connection between dance, rhythm, music, and creativity. Visit a local dance studio, and create inspired crafts and snacks. Dance your way through timeless and captivating dance stories. We’ll perform a special dance for our friends and family on Thursday.

Farm to Table (Vegetable Gardening Camp)

Roll up your sleeves, and let’s dig in the dirt! Four fun days will be focused on how our food is transformed from a seed in the field, to a meal on our plate.  We’ll plan and plant a garden, start seeds, discover what pollinators provide, and create art for our gardens.  A trip to our local CSA and a personal vegetable container garden to take home are on the menu too!

Fishing for the Big One

Young anglers in will learn the basics of fishing including how to tie the perfect knot and how to land and handle the fish they catch. Campers spend two hours learning fishing skills each day. The highlight of Fishing Camp is a trip or two to some local fishing holes to try to catch the elusive “big one!” Equipment will be provided or campers may bring their own.

Kersplash!

A week of swimming and visits to waterparks is the order of business in this camp.  We’ll try out all the features of the Centre pool including the aquaglide, wiggle bridge, climbing wall, and play games such as Sharks and Minnows, Greased Watermelon Football, and Mermaid Races. We’ll take a couple trips to visit water parks too.

Outdoor Skills

Kids develop their outdoor living skills in this exciting, hands-on specialty camp! Campers discover the finer points of preparing for an outdoor adventure. Participants will also learn a variety of useful camping skills including building a fire, making camp shelters, campfire cooking and more! Campers will visit Willow River State Park for a day developing their orienteering skills using a map and compass plus they’ll learn about plant and animal identification during their nature hikes!

Photography Camp

Selfies, still life, commercial and fashion…all types of photography offers the opportunity to show your creative side!  Our photo shoots will be on-location where we’ll explore perspective, lighting and composition as well as meet local photographers and even visit their studios.  Your favorite photo from the week will be printed and on display at the Centre gallery.  Students will need to provide their own digital camera or device for this class.

Skaters and Boards

Kids with boards, skates, scooters, bikes, and all abilities will learn tricks in this camp.  We’ll practice at local skate parks in a safe, structured environment.  Helmets required.

Video Game Camp

Minecraft, Terraria, Madden and more! Your video game loving child will love learning about how video games are designed, coded and created.  We’ll travel to UW-Stout to talk to gamers and find out more about programs and potential careers.  Back at the Centre we’ll enjoy a bit of friendly competition on the Wii, Xbox One, and PS4.

Wearable Art

Create art you can wear!  Each day we’ll explore jewelry making, weaving, dyeing, and fashion construction using many different materials and methods. Expand your creativity through recycling and re-purposing materials into wearable works of art. We’ll try our hand at duct tape accessories, beaded necklaces or earrings, tie-dye clothing, finger-weaving, and simple sewing techniques with visits from local artists.

Wisconsin Park Explorers

Campers will spend four days visiting four different state parks in the local area including: Willow River State Park, William O’Brian State Park, Wisconsin Interstate State Park, and Kinnickinnic State Park. Children will learn about the plants, animals and unique physical features of the various state parks. Youth will complete a series of activities during each park visit and receive Wisconsin Explorer Booklet and official certificate.
